The upper and lower respiratory airways are the two structural divisions of the respiratory system. The larynx, trachea, bronchial tree, and lungs make up the lower airways, whereas the nose, nasal cavity, and pharynx comprise the upper airways. Within the skull, the nose is divided into two sections: the exterior and the internal. A sequence of cartilages in the bottom half, a small zone of fibro-fatty tissue that forms the lateral boundary of the nose (the ala), and an upper framework of bone (composed of the nasal bones, the nasal part of the frontal bones, and the frontal processes of the maxillae) combine to make it.The nasal septum splits it in half. Normally, the nasal septum is straight from birth and stays that way throughout early childhood. However, as people mature, the septum begins to flex to one side. Breathing may become challenging as a result of nasal cavity blockage. The nasal cavity is the internal region that is superiorly and posteriorly to the nose. The oval-shaped apertures known as choanae, which lie between the nasal cavities and the nasopharynx, represent the beginning of the nasal cavity. The vestibule, a dilated chamber lined with coarse hairs or vibrissae with stratified squamous epithelium, is located in the anterior region of the nasal cavity, inside each nostril.
