Pediatric airway disorders occur when a child's airway is obstructed or damaged due to illness, disease or congenital defect.

What is airway surgery?

Airway reconstruction is a surgical procedure performed to widen your windpipe to make breathing easier. During this procedure, a small piece of cartilage  is inserted into the narrowed section of the windpipe to make it wider.

What is the upper airway?

The upper airway consists of the nasal cavities, oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx. The pharynx is further subdivided into the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and hypopharynx.
